The Electric Pathway
Making a clean cut with fossil fuels
SaltX’s electrification and decarbonization technology is a groundbreaking approach to one of the world’s toughest climate challenges: decarbonizing cement production. At the core is our patented Electric Arc Calciner (EAC)—a high-temperature, fossil-free technology that enables the production of zero-emission Portland clinker.

Unlike conventional kilns, the EAC enables direct, controlled heating and integrated CO2 separation, concentrating emissions into a clean stream ready for capture or utilization. This means dramatically reduced energy losses and no need for costly, add-on carbon capture systems.
Two Pathways to Decarbonize the Cement Industry
SaltX is developing two post-calcination solutions:

The Electric Clinker Reactor – a fully electric sintering unit for a completely fossil-free process (Patent pending)

A hybrid route – combining the EAC with a traditional rotary kiln to enable rapid emission cuts using existing infrastructure

In collaboration with industrial leaders such as ABB, thyssenkrupp Polysius, and Holcim, SaltX is now scaling their concepts into full-scale industrial applications. The world’s first all-electric cement plants are on the horizon—and with them, a new era for one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries.
